Do you read your web content out loud before hitting “publish?” This week, Greg Gifford has another blog post for us over at Search Engine Land asking this very question.
The fact of the matter is that even though content signals from your website are arguably the most important part of your local SEO strategy, not many websites actually have quality content. In fact, many websites are guilty of trying to cram to many “SEO” things (like their location) into their content. The result is something that sounds spammy and robotic.
That’s not how your mama raised you!
But it’s easy to get into a checklist-y mentality, right?
- Mention location in content
- Put location in title tags
- Put location in alt text
- Put location in meta description
- Etc, etc, etc…
Since your website content should be conversational, it needs to sound like something you’d actually hear in a conversation between two people. Read Greg’s blog post here, and tell us if you’ve got any other unique strategies for beating the boring.
