Your Vehicle Details Pages (VDPs) are where serious shoppers decide to take the next step, but over time, cluttered layouts, inconsistent photos, and too many calls-to-action can get in the way. A quick spring refresh can sharpen your VDP experience, making it easier for customers to engage with your inventory and move confidently toward conversion.

Spring Cleaning Your VDP

Spring clean your Vehicle Details Pages (VDPs) to boost engagement and drive more leads. Learn how better photos, streamlined CTAs, and improved page design can turn more shoppers into leads.

Vehicle Details Pages (VDPs) are where shoppers slow down, evaluate a vehicle, and decide whether to contact your dealership. Just like any busy space, VDPs can get cluttered over time. Features are added. Photos vary in quality. Calls-to-action multiply.

Spring is the perfect time to tidy things up, and after you update your SRPs it’s time to move on to the VDP. Here are several “spring cleaning” tasks for your VDPs that can improve your shopper experience and help generate more leads.

1. Audit Your Vehicle Photos

Photos are one of the most important elements of any vehicle listing.

In fact, shoppers interact with images more than almost anything else on the page, especially when they are actual dealer photos. 82% of DealerOn network photo activity is on an actual vs stock photo.* A quick audit can reveal common issues like:

  • Inconsistent photo counts across vehicles
  • Low-resolution images
  • Too many stock photos
  • Missing interior shots

Whenever possible, prioritize high-quality, real photos of the actual vehicle. Clean, well-lit images build trust and give shoppers confidence in what they’re seeing. Interior shots are especially important because this is where people spend the majority of their time! Exterior shots might drive a click to the VDP but an interior click is going to push a shopper towards lead submission. Don’t forget to check how images appear on mobile, as most of your shoppers are looking here vs a desktop screen.

2. Add Rich Media Where Possible

Today’s shoppers expect more than static photos. Features like 360° exterior spins or walk-around videos can bring vehicles to life and keep customers engaged longer. If your listings rely heavily on basic image galleries, adding richer media can make your inventory stand out.

3. Keep the Details Always Within Reach

Shoppers shouldn’t have to hunt for key vehicle details, pricing, or especially for ways to contact the dealership for more information. One of the simplest ways to improve your VDP experience for both customers and your lead volume is to ensure the vehicle price and CTAs stay visible as shoppers scroll.

Features like sticky sidebars help keep key information – price, payment estimates, and contact options – within easy reach throughout the page. This makes it easier for customers to act when they’re ready.

Reduce VDP Clutter

Keep pricing, important details, and next steps in view; when key information is always accessible, shoppers are far more likely to stay engaged and take action.

4. Review Your CTAs, and Inspect What the Customer Expects

Many vehicle pages accumulate CTAs over time:

  • Request a Quote
  • Get ePrice
  • Check Availability
  • Unlock Savings
  • Get More Info

A quick spring cleanup should focus on narrowing CTAs down to the most meaningful options and reducing redundancy. This is also a good opportunity to review leads in your CRM and ensure that the CTA matches the customer’s experience when they fill out a form. If the button says “Get Today’s Price” is your first response tailored to address price? Does a “Evaluate Your Trade” CTA drive the customer to actually get this information?

A Little VDP Maintenance Goes a Long Way

Your Vehicle Detail Pages are some of the hardest-working pages on your website. They’re where online shoppers turn into real leads.

Taking time to tidy up photos, streamline CTAs, improve pricing visibility, and simplify lead forms can make the experience smoother for customers, and more productive for your dealership. Think of it as spring cleaning for your digital showroom.
