Google Q&A is now auto-suggesting answers!

In this week’s video, we’re sharing breaking news about Google My Business Q&A! On mobile browsers, if a user starts typing in a question in the GMB Questions & Answers section, Google will auto-suggest answers!

Welcome back to another Wednesday Workshop from DealerOn. This week we’ve got an exciting Google My Business update to share with you… and it’s about Questions and Answers.

We’ve done a few videos before about the GMB Questions and Answers feature, and I’ve been talking about it at conferences for quite a while now. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a feature of Google My Business that allows anyone in the community to ask your dealership a question… but then anyone in the community can answer that question.

So here’s the exciting update – if you’re using a mobile device, Google is starting to auto-suggest answers to questions! As you go in and start to ask a question, it will suggest answers in real time! Check out the video…

See how as I started to type in the question, it auto-suggested an answer?

No one’s sure yet how the order is assigned to the answers, but it looks like if there’s a similar question that’s already been asked, that answer will appear at the top of the list.

Google also uses review content to surface answers, so you’ll likely see reviews in the answer list if they mention anything related to what you’re asking.

So what does this mean? It means you should do exactly what we’ve been telling dealers to do for months – you should pre-load your own questions and then answer them! Set up a pre-site FAQ page on your GMB profile. Now, if it’s a common question, Google is going to auto-suggest an answer, which makes the customer experience even better – and it’ll be much more likely that the user asking the question will convert into a customer.

Google continues to put more emphasis on Google My Business and its various features. If you want to stay ahead of the competition, you need to get in and optimize the heck out of your profile, and get those questions and answers loaded as soon as you can!
