Google Ads is a potent tool for any online marketing platform. A few misconceptions can make it tricky to use, so today we’re going over those Google Ad myths, so you can more effectively manage your SEM.

Myth number one: advertising improves where your site appears in organic searches.

An ad has absolutely no impact on where your site appears in organic search results. Paid ads appear above organic results, and are clearly marked as ads. While it’s a good idea to have an SEO strategy that will rank you highly in organic results, a solid Google Ads presence will help as well.

Myth number two: You need to have a minimum budget.

Google Ads doesn’t need a minimum budget at all. You can start with as little as you like. Google recommends between 5 to 50 dollars per day if you want your ads to be visible.

Myth number 3: There’s no way to control who sees your ads.

Google Ads has multiple ways to target your preferred audience. With Google Search Network, you can target keywords. Or get even more specific with Google Display Network and target demographics!

Myth number four: It’s impossible to calculate RoI.

Google includes the ability to track your ad’s effectiveness and allows you to make changes to test other ads or hone one that’s working but could be working better. Since Google charges you based on how often your ad is being clicked on, you know at least a ballpark of effectiveness without even looking at analytics!

Myth number five: All Google Ads are alike.

Google Ads are highly customizable. If you want customers to call your dealership, you can include a button to do so. If you’re good on camera, Google Ads supports video ads. There are tons of options to explore.
