In this week’s video, a few costumed SEO team members joined us to wish everyone a happy Halloween… But we’re also sharing an exciting update to Google Posts that was released last week on Android phones!
Welcome back to another spooky edition of the Wednesday Workshop from DealerOn.
First and foremost, we want to wish everyone a very happy Halloween. We hope you have a spooktacular day, and if you’ve got kids,
we hope you have a blast trick or treating tonight. Or, if you’re one of those weirdo adults who goes trick or treating, we hope you get some good candy.
Today, we’re talking about Google Posts again. You might have thought that the recent decision to move them down the page meant that they wouldn’t be as important anymore…
But you’d be wrong! Google’s just released an exciting update that makes them more important than ever before!
Just last week, Google released a “follow” button that appears on business listings in the Google Maps app on Android phones. Once someone follows a business, any Google Posts shared by that business will show up in a special “For You” tab in the Google Maps app.
Basically, it’s a curated content area where Google is serving up all the Google Posts from every business the user follows.
This is awesome news for your dealership! We’ve already talked before about how you should be sharing promotional offers in your Google Posts. Now, local customers can follow you and your offers will be served up front and center whenever they open the Google Maps app!
There’s no word yet about when this feature will be added to iPhones, but it’s likely to come soon.
So, make sure you’re encouraging your customers to follow you on the Google Maps app! You could even have your sales or service staff help customers find the listing and follow it, so they’ll have exclusive access to the specials and promotions that you share.
Your posts will be more visible, they’ll get much more engagement, and your customers will be excited to have a direct feed to your awesome specials.
So that’s it for this week’s Wednesday Workshop. As always, if you’ve got questions or comments, leave ‘em down below, and we’ll get back to you shortly. Thanks for watching, and have a happy Halloween!
