In this week’s Wednesday Workshop video, we share the exciting news about Google’s new URL Inspection Tool that’s being added to Search Console. The new tool will be released in the coming weeks, and will allow you to analyze individual pages and see technical details straight from Google’s index. Watch the video for all the details!
Welcome back to another Wednesday Workshop from DealerOn. We’ve got something exciting to share this week – Google just announced that they’re adding a new URL inspection tool in Search Console. Most of you out there don’t follow SEO news like we do, so we wanted to make sure you knew it was coming.
It’s rolling out to Search Console over the coming weeks, so make sure you keep an eye on your account to see when you get it.
According to Google’s announcement, the tool will provide detailed crawl, index, and serving information about your pages, directly from the Google index.
Check it out, we have a few of Google’s official screen shots from the announcement:
This is the main screen that shows the details on the URL you’re inspecting. It’ll show you if the URL shows up on Google, and if it doesn’t, it’ll show you that there are errors.
You can click the arrow on the right of the “index coverage” box to see if the page is on a sitemap, when it was last crawled, which of Google’s bots crawled the page, if the page was set up correctly to allow crawling and indexing, and even if you’ve got your canonical tags set up correctly.
This is going to be an incredibly helpful tool for any dealers who have visibility problems with their sites. It’ll also be an absolute life-saver when dealers switch website providers – it’ll allow you to find any technical problems quickly and know what needs to be fixed.
Google released a large help document that explains how to use the tool and what each feature includes. Head to this bitly link to check it out.
Remember, this is rolling out over the next few weeks, so don’t fret if you don’t see it yet. You’ll have it soon!
That’s all the time we’ve got for today. As always, if you’ve got questions or comments, you can leave ‘em down below and we’ll get back to you shortly. Thanks for watching, and we’ll see you again next week for another Wednesday Workshop from DealerOn.
